The purpose of National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to serve others, promote leadership, develop character, and encourage citizenship. Students who qualify academically are invited to fill out a survey listing activities in which they participate. It is evaluated by a faculty council that determines if the student meets the criteria set forth in the areas of leadership, service, character, and citizenship. We focus on service as a main tenet of our organization. We aim to serve the school, the local community, and the global community.
Examples of activities in which NJHS has participated include hosting a toy drive for the needy in our own community; sponsoring the ever-popular candy grams at Christmas; making blessing bags for the homeless; and serving as chaperones at the open house during Catholic Schools Week. These are just a few of the many activities that NJHS participates in to help spread the gospel message of the importance of serving others.
